Motivation is the key to one’s high performance in work. There are a lot of ways in boosting one’s motivation and some managers may believe that salary increases and bonuses for performance are the only ones that motivate their employees. But researchers have shown that the quality of one’s workplace has the most important impact in boosting employee’s motivation and make them feel that they belong. The following are some tips on how managers can engage their employees and motivate them to do well on their work.

First is, employees should be involve in any setting goals for the better performance of their work. This step allows employees to take ownership of the agreed goals and measures of their work. Second, employees should have regular information on their performances. Both the positive feedbacks and those which need improvement should be delivered properly. These performance feedbacks allow employees to see whether or not they have been performing well inside the company. Third, make sure that the organization’s role is clear to employees so as to guide them in the doing their task at hand. In order to avoid certain mistakes, organization should make sure that there is a natural process of documenting and communication among employees. In this way employers can be sure that the organization’s role is being properly delivered while their employees are doing the process both have agreed on. Employees should also be involved in the planning on how they can improve their company’s services for they have immediate contact with the customers. Fourth, companies should also provide certain incentives to reward employees who have finished challenging task. Rewards can be through form of higher compensation and company recognition. Fifth, supervisors should possess good interpersonal skills so as to boost confidence and encourage employees to be able to do a good job. Sixth, companies are always open to new applicants, once new employees are hired; it is always good to have the mentor and mentee program wherein the new one is paired to a skilled employee. This can help them adapt to the workplace easily and assist them in further developing their skills. Lastly companies should also make sure that the workloads that they give their employees do not hinder them from growing and from applying their learned skills. Adequate time should be given to them to be enabling them to perform well. Companies should always remember that employees are their best assets and that they are important in the structure of the organization. Makings them feel at ease and allowing avenues for them to grow and be better individuals not just as employees is the key to make the workplace atmosphere a place for people to enjoy their work.
